Art Apps for the Ipad
NEW! Blokify - Free - Use blocks to build structures. This is similar to building in Minecraft on creative mode.
Let's create! Pottery (Lite) - Free - Create virtual pottery on a potter's wheel, watch it fire in a kiln, then glaze it. My children love this one!
Faces imake - $4.99 - build your own faces from everyday objects and food.
Kaleido Free - Draw designs using different types of symmetry. This is a very relaxing app. After you have made your drawing, be sure to watch the video.
Art of Oragami - Free - This app has step by step pictures and animation to help you create simple origami animals. I have really enjoyed this one as origami is not one of my strengths. With this app, even I can make origami animals!
playART Van Gogh by Tapook - Free - Use images and backgrounds from paintings by Vincent van Gogh to create your own masterpieces.
playART Museum by Tapook - $3.99 - Just like playART Van Gogh, but this one also includes art by Cezanne, Monet, Rousseau, and Klee.
Puzzle HD:Art - It's almost like piecing together a real puzzle on your dining room table. Plus you get more familiar with famous works of art.
Jigsaw Puzzles: The Greatest Artists by Absolutist - Free - These are nice puzzles, but the pieces are all squares. It does allow you to pick your skill level.
Romare Bearden: A Black Odyssey - Free - This is an app by the Smithsonian similar to playART, but using images by artist Romare Bearden that are in a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institute.
colAR - Free - This one is magical! You print the coloring pages and your children color them. Using the app, point the ipad at the colored pictures. The things in the picture will become 3-D and move!
Keep checking back! I'm always trying to find good apps for my little artists!
Android - I am not normally an Apple fan, but I have to say I have had a difficult time finding comparable art apps for Android devices. If you have found any good ones, please share them with me.
